About Me
My Journey…
Hi I am Rani Bora, author of The Thriving Mind. As a young girl I was quite shy and reserved. Being socially shy I used to muse and listen to others a lot – this seemed a lot easier than expressing myself by speaking out. Quite luckily this trait helped me connect with people and understand their problems and issues at a deeper level.
Since graduating from medical school about 13 years ago, I have been quite fortunate to gain practice experience in various core disciplines of medicine and systems of health care. It was back in 2002 that I chose mental health as my main specialty. Around the same time I was looking for ways to develop as a person and expand my views of the world, of humanity and of my relationships. After going through some amazing life transforming seminars and savouring great literature on personal development to training as a life coach and professional speaker, I’ve reached a place from where I want to share what little I know and also hungry to learn more from my readers and fellow bloggers.
“There are no short cuts, no quick fixes and the journey never ends”
I believe in…
We have to keep nourishing the mind and commit to improvement on a consistent basis, to reap the true benefits. The journey may seem “too much of a hassle ” at times, but as long as we keep moving towards our ultimate vision or goal, we will invariably produce results.
As a psychiatrist, I come across people from all walks of life. Every day I get to learn something new from my patients, colleagues, like-minded friends and fellow bloggers. I cannot emphasise enough the role of a well-nourished mind in combating life stressors and in bringing about wellness in our lives.

What others say about me -
“I found the session to be really helpful in enabling me to focus on where I want to be with my work in 6 months time. This has helped me break down the goals into smaller pieces that I can achieve on the way. I found my coach to have great insight and understanding into my situation and this really helped me discuss my work with someone who knew what I was talking about and could make excellent suggestions…” – Peninsula Mentoring Programme Lead, UK
“I really enjoyed the (first) session. It was an unforgettable experience for me as I had never bothered to think about myself so much before this. Rani made the session very interesting and enjoyable. She was very supportive and was able to open me up so soon” - Manager of a Voluntary Service Organisation
